The window shutters needed only slight attention, with the removal of some crude hinges on the left side.
Chiseling out sections for new brass hinges, once again keeping the remains of the original hinges in place:
I chose Farrow and Ball French Gray for the walls and had a colour match done for their Studio Green for the joinery as it was unavailable in my local shop.
This is one of Colourtrend's creams, for the ceiling and cornicing:
The shutterbox panels required some filling and sanding:
And i used filler to fill the large gaps where the upper sections of the shutter box joined with the window reveals:

The Farrow & Ball paint I used is not specifically breathable and as such should probably not have been used on these newly lime plastered walls, however breathability is much less of a concern on upper floors compared to the ground floor level. The first coat was patchy due to the porous and textured finish of the lime:
There was a very noticeable bend in the door of this room, so I set about correcting it with a ratchet strap:
After the painting was finished, I enlisted the skills of Brendan a local floor specialist to sand and stain the floors. These are the original pine boards, in excellent condition:
The latest in sanding kit for tight spaces, an excellent German-made machine:
Brendan testing out various stain colours, none of which I was a fan of, so we ended up mixing two stains together to get a darker brown shade:
The final mixed shade on the right:
And then the second before varnishing:

This was the Victorian fireplace from the front room which was moved to this room, formally painted yellow:
The floor is a little shinier than I would have liked, but it should dull down over time:

DeleteVery handsome color choice for the trim. Nice to see something other than the default white. Interesting posts on the lime plaster. Not something you see here in western US where ship lap is common in older homes including mine. Beautiful job!
