Hallway Door Removal

So I got another internal door removed today. This time it was the door that lead into the return, located beside the stairs. Here is the door as it was:

The door came off the frame with little problem, however the frame was very well secured to both the staircase and the wall. In fact on the wall side, the frame was bolted into place. After much prying and wrestling, it all came free with no damage to the stairs, and minimal damage to the plasterwork.

Door removed:

All gone:

  1. What a wonky strange place to put a door! If whoever did that wanted a door, why didn't he/she install it where the door opening already was to that former "kitchen" area? Rhetorical question. And to use such an obviously ugly door that did not at all fit in the time period of the original build - ugh! Good move to remove it (and the door you removed in the prior post that was intended, I suppose, to create some kind of mini-vestibule for the entrance and to stop cold air from entering the hallway.
