I started work on the bathroom window sill, packing the space underneath with fibreglass wool:
I then had some 35mm sill cut to the size of the opening, which fits nicely. It was then glued and pinned in place:
I also had some architrave plinth blocks made up. Just a very simple square shape to clean up where the window architraves meet the skirting in both the bathroom and bedroom. The bottom of all the architraves was also damaged so this was a decent solution. Some of the damage:

I also started work on stripping the paint from the doors. Extremely labour intensive, this took about an hour:

ReplyDeleteIt took me a bit to figure out what the "blocking" was, LOL. Sorry. The differences in terminology between the UK and the U.S. throw me for a loop sometimes. Google is getting a real workout from me today. I initially wondered why you didn't just run the baseboard (skirting) underneath the window trim (architrave???) but after looking at the top profile I see it would have taken a lot of work, and maybe not even possible, to satisfactorily cope the bottom of the window trim to fit snugly on top of/into the baseboard (skirting). So the blocks make sense and solve the problem of the raggedy damaged ends.
